FAQs
About the driver experience
How does vehicle commerce create seamless experiences for drivers across fueling, parking, tolling, charging, and other everyday services?
How does your digital wallet work?
We partner with automotive OEMs on existing and planned digital wallet initiatives and can integrate with virtually any wallet platform.
Depending on the OEM's requirements, Sheeva.AI can provide a native Sheeva wallet, a white-labeled OEM wallet, or integrate directly with an existing wallet ecosystem.
How do I keep someone from using my digital wallet or profile?
Each driver can have a unique profile protected by security measures such as passcodes, two-factor authentication (2FA), and, in the future, biometric authentication.
Our platform is designed to provide a secure and convenient experience while allowing OEMs to implement the identity and security policies that best fit their customers.
Why do I need an alternative to Apple Pay or Google Pay via my phone?
Sheeva.AI complements Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other payment methods by enabling transactions directly from the vehicle experience.
Rather than requiring drivers to reach for a phone, open an app, authenticate, and complete a transaction, Sheeva.AI enables drivers to discover, authenticate, and transact directly from the vehicle.
We are payment-rail agnostic and can work with the payment methods and wallet providers preferred by our OEM partners.
Why is "down-to-the-pump" location important?
Precise location intelligence is what enables seamless vehicle commerce.
Sheeva.AI can identify a vehicle at a specific fuel pump, parking space, EV charger, or drive-through lane without requiring additional infrastructure, cameras, or scanners.
While most mapping platforms identify a service location such as a gas station or parking facility, Sheeva.AI identifies the precise point of service where the transaction occurs.
This enables secure activation, authentication, and payment directly from the vehicle experience.
I’ve heard of other location tech that gets closer than 2 meters x 2 meters. Why is yours special?
Many location technologies are designed for autonomous driving and require centimeter-level precision along with specialized hardware.
For vehicle commerce applications, identifying the correct point of service is more important than achieving centimeter-level accuracy.
Sheeva.AI delivers the precision required for fueling, parking, charging, tolling, and retail transactions while leveraging existing vehicle hardware and OTA deployment capabilities.
Partner OEMs can deploy our technology through the vehicle's existing telematics infrastructure without requiring additional hardware.
What about two gas pumps that are back-to-back?
We have mapped more than one million fuel dispensers worldwide. In the rare case where two pumps are positioned very close together, drivers can simply confirm the correct dispenser from the vehicle interface.
How about EV chargers that are back-to-back or have multiple plugs?
EV charging environments vary significantly across networks and locations.
When a driver arrives at a charging site, Sheeva.AI identifies the available charging stations and presents the relevant options through the vehicle interface. The driver can then select the appropriate charger or connector.
This approach accommodates a wide range of charging configurations while maintaining a simple user experience.
How are you different from QR codes, RFID, or tapping/swiping credit cards at the point of sale?
Traditional payment methods require drivers to interact with a phone, card, QR code, scanner, or payment terminal.
Sheeva.AI combines location intelligence, digital identity, and embedded payments to enable transactions directly from the vehicle experience.
Drivers can authenticate and transact with minimal interaction while reducing reliance on external hardware, improving convenience, and enhancing security.
Digital receipts are delivered automatically, eliminating the need for paper receipts and reducing friction throughout the transaction process.
Isn’t what you’re doing really what “Plug & Charge” (ISO 15118) is all about? How are you different?
The promise of Plug & Charge—the ability to plug in and walk away while charging begins automatically—is very similar to the customer experience Sheeva.AI enables.
However, Plug & Charge requires both the vehicle and charging infrastructure to support the standard.
Sheeva.AI can deliver a seamless charging experience across a broader range of vehicles and charging environments, including those that do not support Plug & Charge.
I already have an app for this retailer, OEM, EV charging network, or gas station. Does Sheeva.AI replace it?
In many cases, yes.
Rather than requiring drivers to download, manage, and switch between multiple merchant applications, Sheeva.AI brings relevant functionality directly into the connected vehicle experience.
The result is a simpler and more seamless customer journey.
If I don't use the retailer app will I get my reward points?
Yes.
Sheeva.AI can integrate with merchant loyalty programs and connect them to a driver's digital wallet profile, allowing customers to earn and redeem rewards as they normally would.
So it only saves a few seconds at a gas pump, parking kiosk, or EV charger. Does that really matter?
Vehicle commerce is about more than saving a few seconds.
It eliminates friction throughout the customer journey by reducing the need for apps, payment terminals, kiosks, paper receipts, and manual authentication steps.
Whether dealing with bad weather, busy schedules, or malfunctioning service equipment, drivers benefit from a simpler and more seamless experience.
